I am Cuban born, raised in the U.S., and my wife is Puerto Rican. We have been married for 12 years and have two beautiful daughters ages 11 and 6 … actually June 7th is our 13th wedding anniversary! We were raised in the Latino culture, which is often skeptical when it comes to leaving our comfort zone, and where network marketing companies are called pyramids. From childhood our culture emphasizes the importance of university degrees and of working for large corporations, in order to build a good retirement. We followed the advice of our parents and we achieved the goals that are seen as the right way to solidify your future: get a college degree and go on to achieve in Corporate America.
After 17 years of working in the same company, me as the General Manager and my wife as Assistant Human Resources Director, our ideal world fell apart in the blink of an eye. On February 14, 2013 our Senior VP announced that our salaries would be reduced by 50% due to restructuring, with only two weeks’ notice for such a radical change. You can imagine the despair and sense of helplessness, with all the years of dedication and sacrifice down the drain in 2 weeks’ time. We lost everything … our home, our luxury cars, even people who at that time we considered friends, and many other things.
The biggest life lesson we received was from our daughters. When we sat with them to explain why we had to leave our home, why we no longer had our cars, their words were: “Daddy and Mommy, we have not lost everything, we still have the most important thing of all: we will always have each other”
What followed was a tsunami that took most of our material things. It was a process that had to happen so that we could realize that we were slaves to a system that only takes advantage of the best years of your life and then leaves you a few crumbs to survive on, for your retirement years.
Today we thank God for that event that shook our lives; as a result we broke free of the traditional cycle of Corporate America. It allowed us to see things clearly and because of that, we decided that when you have goals, when you have dreams to fulfill, when you have a reason much larger than our own life, nothing can stop you. We are now clear on our Why: our 2 daughters, Maridanys and Danimarys - they are our reason to exist. For them, we stood back up and promised to never again feel insecurity and instability.
On October 15, 2015 we made the wisest decision of our lives - we decided to join the LIMU FAMILY. We are very proud to represent LIMU Latino and we know that we are a tool for blessing countless people in terms of both health and finances. Today we are hundreds and tomorrow we will be millions of people who will be impacted by LIMU, and we will be protagonists of that story.
Thanks to everyone who helped us in this journey and believed in us … our great friends and mentors, Cathy and Freddy Melero, Jorge Betancourt who shared this amazing opportunity, and Ricardo Gomez and his wife Arelis Segarra for being such a great examples of selflessness, dedication and commitment. We thank every single person in our team - without you none of this would be possible. Every single one of our success stories are yours as well.
Thanks to Gary Raser for leading this ship on this great adventure. Many times we had the opportunity to hear mention of the crazy Colombian group who sent you the first video and how it filled you with excitement. You can’t imagine the excitement, joy and pride we had in knowing that those crazies were part of OUR team. We know that we will continue to maximize this opportunity and continue to make history with our LIMU FAMILY.
Our financial situation has greatly improved. We again have a home for our daughters. We drive a BMW PAID BY LIMU. Our dreams are now goals with deadlines. And we are confident that LIMU is the vehicle that will help us reach every single one of our dreams. We are clear that we must always aspire to BE MORE. We must persist, believing in ourselves and in what we can achieve. We must be masters of our domain!
